From January of 2016 to March of 2017, David served as stage director for his third student thesis production at Princeton University. Heather O'Donovan, class of 2017, translated Victor Massé's charming 1853 opéra-comique Les noces de Jeanette into a singable English adaptation entitled Jeanette's Wedding Day. The production was produced by Heather and presented in the intimacy of Taplin Hall with an orchestral reduction commissioned from Emily Whitaker (2015). Heather's adaptation is very faithful to the original text with appropriate and creative rhyming schemes and is very singable! With the adept elimation of the chorus and a fine orchestral reduction, she has created wonderful little chamber opera for 4 singers (Jeanette - coloratura soprano, Jean - lyric baritone, Thomas - tenor or baritone, and petite Pierre - tenor or soprano). Jeanette's Wedding Day was musically directed and conducted by Renatka Dworak, with costumes by Marie Miller and lighting by Henry Valoris.
